Rice field day in Spain
This field day aims to serve as a forum for demonstration and exchange between farmers, technicians, companies and research centres. The objective is to showcase innovative and locally applicable solutions that contribute to improving resource efficiency, reducing environmental impact and ensuring the future viability of rice cultivation.
The results of various demonstration projects will be presented: “Improving the efficiency of nitrogen fertilisation in rice cultivation through remote sensing (RICEFRTISAT)” and “Irrigation strategies to optimise water consumption, weed management and rice yield in the Ebro Delta (HERBESREG)”.
In addition, progress will be reported on various research projects, such as BIORICE and RESIRICE, funded by the State Research Agency (AEI), as well as the LEGENDARY project, funded by the Horizon Europe programme.
International Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics 2026
The symposium, entitled “Fundamental Science for Climate-Resilient Rice”, will bring together leading researchers from around the world to discuss the latest advances in rice functional genomics and their contribution to developing climate-resilient rice production systems.

International Conference on Rice Innovations for Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition
9th ITRC Conference – Punta del Este, Uruguay
The ITRC is a premier scientific forum dedicated specifically to rice research, production, and technological innovation within temperate climate zones.
Core Objectives
- Knowledge Exchange: Sharing breakthrough studies in temperate rice agronomy, breeding, and genetics.
- Sustainability & Efficiency: Promoting water conservation, productivity, and low-emission farming systems.
- Collaboration: Fostering international professional networks and dialogue among global temperate rice stakeholders.
The ITRC is a long-standing recurring event that rotates globally among major temperate rice-producing nations. Following successful past editions—including the 4th ITRC hosted by Italy (Novara) in 2007 and the 8th edition in the USA (2024)—the conference returns to Uruguay for 2027. Looking further ahead, we are proud to announce that the subsequent ITRC meeting planned for 2030 will return to Europe, hosted once again in Italy.
